Hot and Severe Storm Potential Today .....
Its expected to be very hot over most of the Canadian prairies today, Temperatures today are expected to be near 30 degrees with the very high humidity its going to feel more like 35 degrees.
Severe Storm Potential Today ...
Today Cape which measures the instability in the Atmosphere in order for Severe Storms to develop, today in Southern Alberta in some areas values are reaching 2000 - 2500 so that is more than enough energy for very severe storms to develop and according to this map areas along the foothills to East of Calgary can see these Severe storms this Afternoon and Evening.
High Shear helps storms grow
Today ... Shear values as in this map shows Shear which is veering winds as you go higher up into the Atmosphere which helps storms move and grow and stay strong, and high shear can help storms grow into Supercells which can create Tornadoes, becuase of the high shear environment today in Southern Alberta with high Humidity and Those high Temperatures there is a chance of Supercells this Afternoon and Evening, these types of storms can bring Very Large Hail, Damaging winds, Heavy Rains and Intense Lightning and sometimes Tornades. I will update this page if any Watches or Warnings are issued.
